This is one of my favorite violin sonatas by Edvard Grieg. You can hear various elements of Norwegian Folk culture. Grieg composed this piece at the age of 22, with the idea of young love, full of hope, naivety, and complete fearlessness. This is the heart of one who has not yet experienced heartbreak and there is something very fresh about that. It has noticeably pure elements, and fills me with nostalgia. This is perhaps one of my favorite violin pieces to play. You just can’t help but smile when you play it. 🙂
